Two matches in a thirty match league season means it is too early to draw conclusions. Even at this early stage, Aduana Stars have used their first two games to remind us that their surprise league triumph last season was not a fluke.
They will be heavily under the spotlight this weekend as they take on Hearts of Oak, looking for their third win in as many games and their third clean sheet of the season.
Hearts of Oak meanwhile say their defeat at Kessben FC was a minor setback and are keen to ensure it does not happen again.
For Aduana, Herbert Addo’s open expression of interest in the Black Stars coaching vacancy means their games now will become almost inevitably a job interview for the established coach in the eyes of the wider Ghanaian population.
Aduana v Hearts of Oak clash to be televised delayed at 5pm on SuperSport 9.
In other Ghana Premier League games, Mighty Jets coach E.K Afranie will be looking for a positive result against Kotoko to ease the early pressure on the newly promoted side mounted in large parts by their own impatient fans after two games without a win.
Jets were forced to issue a reprieve to some of their fans who verbally abused Afranie after their first home game against Wa All Stars.
Afranie himself claimed unless the fans stopped the abuse, the club will struggle and has demanded they show their passion in the stands. They are up this weekend against a club whose fans know how to show their love and disaffection in equal measure.
Kumasi Asante Kotoko thumped Liberty Professionals 4-0 in Accra last weekend but club bosses have been quick to remind the fans that the more difficult part of the season still lies ahead.
Elsewhere, AshantiGold, under another man touted for the vacant Black Stars job, David Duncan, go in search of their second win of the season at Wa All Stars.
In Dansoman, Liberty Professionals will attempt to pick themselves up from their thrashing at the hands of Kumasi Asante Kotoko but their opponents Kessben FC are the form team of the campaign and look set to maintain their great performances.
Berekum will get to experience a derby more familiar with the UK, London in particular. Chelsea and Arsenal go up against each other in the Ghanaian version of the game.
In Cape Coast Ebusua Dwarfs host Heart of Lions looking for their second win while Edubiase take on King Faisal in the final game.
It is still early days in the league but with the great performances put in by the teams, it sure promises to be an exciting season ahead.
